1. What is the food like?
Our delicious meals are served family style in our dining hall. In addition to the main meal, there is a fruit and cereal bar for breakfast and a salad bar for lunch and dinner. There is also a vegetarian option at every meal. By offering a variety of choices and providing healthy, quality food, we keep everyone happy.
2. What are the dorms like?
There are two dormitories and a dining hall that are situated in the forest. The dining hall seats 100 and also houses administrative offices. The dorms are equipped with bunks, showers, common rooms, and a fireplace. The dorms are air conditioned for the comfort of our campers. Each dorm can accommodate 40 guests.
3. What is the weekly schedule and activities?
Dragonfly Heart Camp is a summer place where a child may experience fun, freedom and adventure in abundance with a program which is broad enough to challenge and satisfy the needs of today's active youth. Daytime activities are organized on a free-choice basis. Our program is very flexible and is designed to match the natural, free and non-competitive atmosphere of Dragonfly Heart Camp. Our extensive adventure course features low and high elements and an Alpine Tower.
Activites Include:
- Zip Line, Adventure Course & Giant Swing
- Boating
- Nature Walks
- Arts and Crafts
- Yoga
- Talent Show (bring your instrument or any item needed to perform your talent)
- Field Trips
- Beach Volleyball
- Ice Cream Social & Dance
- Swimming
- Campfire
4. What happens in the evenings?
Most activities involve the whole camp, but there are often special activities for older campers. The evening programs include dances, campfires, the great race and many others.
5. What sort of medical facilities do you have?
Our infirmary is staffed 24 hours a day by one of our registered nurses who has experience in pediatric cardiac care. They give prescribed medications and provide routine medical care. Our Cardiac and Pulmonary Doctors are at camp and available 24 hours a day to all our campers to provide additional treatment if needed. In the event of an emergency the camper, accompanied by a member of the medical staff, will be transported to the local hospital which is 11 miles away.
6. Does Dragonfly Heart Camp have any religious affiliation?
Religion is not a part of our program. There are no religious services held at camp and children of many faiths choose Dragonfly Heart Camp.
7. Where do campers come from?
Many are from Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, but we accept campers from all over the United States.
8. How are the boys and girls grouped?
All activities are coed. All campers are required to wear appropriate clothing and girls must wear one-piece bathing suits.
9. How can I communicate with my child?
Parents can send emails and faxes and letters to their children. Phone calls are discouraged. However, if a parents calls we can arrange for them to speak to their child.
10. Does my child have access to computers or TV?
Because there is so much to do at Dragonfly Heart Camp, computers, TV, and video games are not part of our program.
11. Tell me about your counselors?
All our counselors have previous experience working with children. They range in ages from 18 to 25 and the average age is 21.
12. How do you screen staff?
The Camp Director personally interviews each staff member. We also check references by phone and perform criminal background checks.
13. What are the camp dates?
Camp dates for this year are Monday, August 1 – Saturday, August 6, 2011
14. How many campers attend each camp session?
We will be able to accommodate 25 campers per session this year.
15. Does my child qualify to attend Dragonfly Heart Camp?
Our camp is for children who have received a heart and/or lung transplant, or are diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension. We serve children between the ages of 8 to 18 that are able to live independently. Campers who are turning 8 and also those who are turning 18 in 2011 may attend. Our medical board will evaluate each application on an individual needs. Applications are considered on a first-come, first-serve basis. We encourage you to register early.

Breakfast, lunch & dinner served family style with love,  Beautiful, air-conditioned dorms to suit all our special needs.  Each dorm has a common area, with fireplace, for meetings or just hanging out with friends.  Activities range from zipline, giant swing, boat trips and even fruit picking.  Swimming is another favorite activity among campers!
 Our medical staff is on-site 24/7 to handle any medical needs your child may have while at camp.
Campers get to show off their skills during DHC Talent Show.
Cell phones are handed over at beginning of camp.
 Our staff of experienced counselors will encourage and challenge your child daily.
Children range in ages from 8 to 18 years of age.
