1st Golf Tournament A Success, Despite the Rain!
The event was held on Saturday, June 13th at Locust Valley Golf Course in Coopersburg, PA. The day started off slightly overcast and cool. So we thought we beat the weather. Not long after the 60 golfers headed out onto the course, did the rain pour down and lightening crash. Everyone scrambled for shelter. After about a half an hour the rain broke and it was beautiful. The gorgeous course drained perfectly and everyone went back to golfing. We were so thankful. Again, around 4:45 PM the skies opened up again and everyone came rushing in. Most of the golfers got in all but three holes. Again we were thankful everyone got in safe. We all sat down and enjoyed hamburgers, hotdogs, baked ziti and salads. Most of us were wet and really appreciated the hot food!!!
Scott Hetrick compiled all the final results. First place went to: Joe Foley, Jim Pinner, John Tregembo and Jeff Weingard with 7 under. There was a three-way tie for second place at 6 under: Bob Downs, Bob Zimmerman, Ron Peoples & George Hiley; George O'Connell, James Whiteley, Nick Ferrante & Vic Tiso; Scott Hetrick, Eric Nelson, Nick & Dan. Longest Drive awarded to: Tony Edwards. Straightest Drive awarded to: Charles Hetrick. Closest to the Pin awarded to: Mike. Congratulations to all the winners!
